Helvetios

I finally was able to listen to Eluveitie's new album Helvetios that came out back in February, and I love it!  It's pretty much what I expected as well, a kick ass album.  I have never known Eluveitie to release garbage, and they have NOT started now.  For those that never have heard of them, Eluveitie (pronounced el-vey-ti) is a folk metal band from Switzerland.  Their sound can be described as Celtic Folk Metal with Melodic Death Metal influences.  The band formed in 2002 and their first EP, VĂȘn came out in 2003.

One of Eluveitie's two largest draws is their liberal, virtuosic use of traditional instruments amidst guitars and Chrigel's wide ranging, emotional screams.  The other is their lyrics; instead of any of the languages currently spoken in their home country, the screams, clean vocals, and occasional spoken word parts are often in the extinct language Gaulish.  Eluveitie is Etruscan for "the Helvetian", referring to an inscription dating to the earliest record of the Celtic Helvetii tribe from what is now Switzerland.

Here's one track that automatically loved from their new album entitled "A Rose For Epona"..  And yes, there are females in this band.

Again, for those who have never heard of Eluveitie until now, here's some of their other kick ass songs.
